Drs. Michael and Jenessa Lock are dedicated to caring for people through thoughtful and personal eye care. They both earned their Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Illinois College of Optometry, where they met while preparing for their careers in optometry and began the journey that would lead them to practice together and now building Lumen Eyecare.
During their clinical training they had the opportunity to serve patients in Haiti through the Christian Vision Clinic. That experience left a lasting impact on them. Working with people who had very limited access to eye care reinforced their desire to use their skills to serve others with compassion.
Today they enjoy practicing together at Lumen Eyecare and caring for patients of all ages. They value building long term relationships with families, watching children grow, and helping protect their vision as they develop.
At Lumen Eyecare in Urbandale, they provide comprehensive eye care for families throughout Urbandale, West Des Moines, Waukee, and the surrounding communities.In addition to routine eye exams they care for a wide range of eye health needs including urgent eye problems and conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Jenessa Lock has also pursued additional training in myopia management because of her passion for helping children maintain healthy vision for the future.
Outside the clinic Michael and Jenessa’s have great joy in spending time with their family and friends. They are the parents of five boys, Nahum, Judah, Jeremiah, Zadok, and Elijah. Much of their time away from work is spent with their boys and serving within their church community.
At Lumen Eyecare they strive to create a place where patients feel welcomed, listened to, and cared for because they believe the best eye care begins with genuine relationships.
