Dr. Jenessa Lock, O.D.
Dr. Jenessa Lock has more than 20 years of experience in eye care and is committed to building meaningful relationships with her patients. Originally from Algona, Iowa, she completed her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University before earning her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry.
Specialties & Clinical Interests
Dr. Lock’s approach to care is centered on listening first. She is passionate about understanding each patient’s concerns, finding thoughtful solutions, and guiding them toward the right next step.
Her clinical interests include pediatric eye care, myopia management, dry eye treatment, complex contact lens fittings, and emergency eye care.
Education & Experience
With more than two decades of experience serving patients in the Des Moines area, Dr. Lock combines clinical expertise with a patient-first approach. Her education and ongoing experience allow her to provide thoughtful care that adapts to each patient’s needs and stage of life.
Community & Outreach
Dr. Lock’s dedication to care extends beyond the clinic. She has participated in mission work in Haiti and Honduras, including an externship at a vision clinic in Gressier, Haiti, where she gained valuable experience serving patients with limited access to eye care.
She has also spent the past 15 years working with children through her church, reflecting her passion for supporting families and younger patients in the community.
Life Outside the Office
At home, Dr. Lock and her husband have raised and homeschooled their five sons. She especially enjoys working with children and understands firsthand the role vision plays in learning and development.
Outside the office, she enjoys daily walks, watching her sons compete in sports, and co-hosting a church podcast.
